We are delighted to once again host PhD candidate Silke van Daalen, who will stay with us for most of September. We also had a quick visit from her supervisor, Professor Hal Caswell from the University of Amsterdam, in the last week of August. Both are mathematical biologists, currently working on stochastic processes in population demography and individual variation in stochasticity. Silke will have the dubious honour of accompanying the Human Life History Group and Myanmar Timber Elephant Project teams to our yearly group meeting (once again on beautiful Seili).
